Rusty Heathkit MR-1 Receiver

 

I picked this MR-1 up on eBay for parts. It’s a bit rusty on the outside of the cabinet and dirty inside.

This MR-1 is a “Parts Radio” as there are not many MR-1 parts radios available.

The cabinet has some rust, nothing that can’t be fixed with sanding and repainting.

The front panel should clean up rather well. The Silver knobs are original, the large White knob is not. There wasn’t a knob on the main tuning shaft so I put the White knob on the shaft to test the tuning assembly and dial pointer movement.

Rear View. I removed the wire hanging out of the hole on the rear, it was connected to one terminal on the Volume control pot.

Chassis Top View (I removed the tubes and tested them, they all tested good).  I tested the meter and it works fine.
