Rusty Heathkit MR-1 Receiver
I picked this MR-1 up on eBay for parts. It’s a bit rusty on the outside of the cabinet and dirty inside. My initial thoughts are to use it as a “Parts Radio”.
Front View. The White Heathkit knob didn’t come with the receiver. I put it on to test the tuning shaft and dial pointer movement when rotated.

Rear View. I removed the wire hanging out of the hole on the rear, it was connected to one terminal on the Volume control pot.

Chassis Top View (I removed the tubes and tested them, they all tested good). The chassis had a coating of dust. I used a small paint brush and the dust came right off. There are some discoloration on the chassis but it’s nothing more then expected for an aluminum chassis left unattended in a garage, basement, or storage unit. It doesn’t look too bad. I tested the meter and it works fine.

Inside below chassis view. I don’t seen any resistors and/or wiring that appear to have overheated.

These old units may have mods performed, whether good or bad, by previous owners. You never know what’s been done to these vintage radios. I’m not sure if I am going to repair this receiver or use it entirely for parts.
